Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager has the ultimate accountability for FPY (first pass yield) of finished goods processes throughout the manufacturing floor. The position leads a team of manufacturing engineers, process technicians and/or process specialists to maintain and improve product processes and yield. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager reviews process data, ensures process compliance, audits special processes, performs investigations and implements process changes. This position is responsible for creating goals, providing feedback and establishing an adequate workload of the manufacturing engineering team. The position shall ensure that the engineering team members are positively influencing people and processes. The team shall set an example for the quality mindset expected of all shop employees while providing the necessary support to sustain productivity on the shop floor.
- Assure process compliance (welding, bending, brazing, chemical)
- Establish yield goals and manage team to execute
- Mitigate risks associated with product quality
- Execute miscellaneous technical projects
- Utilize data and anecdotal feedback to identify areas to improve yield or reduce quality risks
- General team management (e.g. time and attendance, policies, behaviors, adherence to company culture)
- Establish and/or execute continuous improvement projects
Qualifications
- Candidate should have manufacturing experience, proven problem solving experience and enjoy working in shop floor environment
- Metal working and/or welding experience is a plus
- Aerospace is preferred, but other regulated industries such as medical device, pharma, food, nuclear is a plus
- Lean or six sigma training or experience
- 3-5 years of experience in engineering/manufacturing
