Job Description
The Imaging Engineering Technician will provide critical support to the Hardware Engineers supporting Imaging and Algorithm customers both internal and external, testing new capabilities, working with prototype systems, and participating in fleet sustainment activities.
Essential Functions:
Support development, testing, and deployment of new capabilities and systems:
- Support selected projects or technology development and demonstration efforts related to imaging technologies, including x-ray, and computed tomography modalities.
- Maintain and modify test systems to support customer critical feature and end of life component replacement testing
- Represent Smiths Detection in technical evaluation and data submission efforts (RFI, RFP, Industry Day, Operation Tests, Cybersecurity exercises, and other Evaluations).
- Assist in preparing Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quote (RFQ) and Requests for Information (RFI).
- Support internal validation demonstrations, third party testing and support customer evaluations as needed for Smiths Imaging systems to succeed in Americas and global market.
Facilitate fleet sustainment activities:
- Support internal validation demonstrations, third party testing and support customer evaluations as needed for Smiths Imaging systems to succeed in Americas and global market.
- Evaluate engineering prototypes of hardware, software, and accessories to provide feedback to internal and external development groups.
- Execute and support data collection efforts, technical evaluations, and field testing of imaging technologies and products by key customers at internal and customer venues
Undertaking ad-hoc technology projects as required
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Associate’s degree in engineering or related technology field preferred, or equivalent experience supporting technical systems with government customers
- Requirements:
- Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills at all levels of the organization
- Self-starter with ability to maintain task ownership with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn and use other computer-based information systems and software (e.g., SAP, risk management)
- Knowledge of Linux OS
- Ability to travel up to 10% including travel to foreign countries.
- US Citizen with active clearance or the ability to successfully pursue a clearance in a timely manner

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $40,240 - $90,600 per year. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant and alignment with internal and market data.)
