Job Description
We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Innovation Team. This role involves designing mechanical systems and components for automated machinery, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting the full lifecycle of equipment development—from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development
- Design custom mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for automated equipment.
- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Draftsight).
- Perform engineering calculations for strength, motion, and thermal analysis.
- Project Execution
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Participate and lead design reviews, risk assessments, and DFMEA processes.
- Support prototyping, fabrication, and testing of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Documentation & Standards
- Create and maintain drawings, models, BOMs, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant safety and industry standards (e.g., ANSI, OSHA, ISO).
- Maintain version control and design records.
- Customer & Field Support
- Interface with customers to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Support equipment installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning at customer sites.
- Provide ongoing support for design improvements and upgrades.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design of custom automation or machinery.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal, etc.).
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, linear motion systems, and robotics.
- Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical drafting standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with machine safety standards and guarding design.
- Knowledge of motion control systems and integration with controls.
- Exposure to simulation tools (FEA, CFD) and rapid prototyping.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel for customer support and installations (10–20%).
