Job Description

Job Purpose:
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, improvements, upgrades and installations on factory equipment. Working with Manufacturing Engineering, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing related data, improving and maintaining tool and process performance, and address issues to achieve process requirements and work to eliminate repetitive equipment downs. Equipment technician will operate production equipment and tools used for assembly and manufacturing of sockets and connectors. Technician must be able to follow guidelines, diagrams, and schematics to ensure tolerance and product specifications are met. Technician must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the manufacturing field. This individual must be able to work well with little supervision. Person will also learn other aspects of the manufacturing/production areas to become knowledgeable in auto-loading, device testing and our Quality System.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to identify, multi-task, and resolve multiple priority issues quickly and efficiently to improve overall equipment performance
  • Ability to learn and understand process flow quickly and support the manufacturing engineering organization as needed
  • Outstanding organizational, teaming, and troubleshooting skills on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong collaborative skills in team environment
  • Able to improve system performance to achieve process requirements and eliminate repetitive tool break downs
  • Monitor and analyze all related tool data, make recommendation and improvements to maintenance procedures
  • Work with engineers to design and execute equipment improvement projects
  • Able to clearly communicate machine status verbally in daily pass-down meetings
  • Able to provide clear written communication to engineers and technicians on other shifts
  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineers with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods and procedures, including writing change orders and deviations.
  • Schedule, complete, and document routine maintenance on applicable manufacturing and test equipment
  • Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and recommend solutions to Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Assist with hands on training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment and process revisions.
  • Install and validate equipment and processes in the production area to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time following the established validation procedure.
  • Understand Pneumatic and Hydraulic system.
  • Ability to Program and Troubleshoot Allen Bradley and Keyence PLC
  • Knowledge of injection molding and dimensional inspection techniques is highly preferred.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General educational, experience and competency requirements defined in current revision of the “Engineering Career Ladder”.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and tools to determine product adherence to specification  
  • Good understanding of electronic, mechanical, and environmental test equipment, software and procedures.
  • Knowledge of MIL-Spec and other Space/Defense/Aerospace/Medical industry specifications.
  • General problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling tools for simple fixture design.
  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.
  • Follow Manufacturing Engineers direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers
  • Proficient with MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and execute a detailed test plan.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and efficient management of time and resources
