Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate CNC Training Specialist to lead the development and delivery of comprehensive CNC training programs for both new hires and experienced operators. This role is critical to enhancing the efficiency, safety, and quality of our production processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hands-On CNC Training: Deliver practical, on-the-floor instruction covering CNC machine setup, tooling, programming (including G-code), and safety protocols. Ensure trainees gain real-world experience and confidence in operating CNC equipment.
- Global Standards Alignment: Provide training that meets or exceeds global standards for CNC operation, programming, and maintenance. Ensure consistency across all training programs in alignment with John Crane and industry benchmarks.
- Training Program Development: Collaborate with management and process experts to continuously update and improve training materials. Ensure content reflects current technologies, best practices, and company objectives.
- Skills Matrix Documentation: Create and maintain a detailed skills matrix to track operator competencies, identify training needs, and support career development planning.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Assist operators in diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to CNC machine operation and programming. Act as a resource for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Performance Assessment: Monitor trainee progress through assessments and feedback sessions. Provide constructive guidance to support skill development and performance improvement.
- Leadership & Training Capability: Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Effectively train and mentor individuals across various experience levels and learning styles.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Postsecondary education in CNC operations (certificate or associate degree) is strongly preferred.
- Technical Experience: Hands-on experience with CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, and Intergrex machines is highly desirable. Proven ability to operate and train on a variety of CNC equipment.
- Machining Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining principles, blueprint reading, and applied mathematics. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Programming Expertise: Proficiency in CNC programming, including G-code. Experience with CAD and CAM software is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, engaging, and accessible manner to diverse learners.
- Problem-Solving & Detail Orientation: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Capable of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Shift Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work across all shifts, including weekends, to meet training needs and support production schedules.
