Job Description

As a Procurement Manager at Smiths Detection India, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing procurement strategies aligned with business needs. This multifaceted position involves leading the International Procurement Office (IPO) operations in India, encompassing policy development and implementation. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, your responsibilities span market analyses, price and service-level benchmarking, sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and ongoing supplier relationship management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement Execution
  • Execute procurement activities in alignment with business requirements.
  • Provide market analyses, price/service-level benchmarking, and conduct sourcing events.
  • Lead projects with cross-functional teams, managing supply base selection, qualification, and risk management. 
  • Oversee the source-to-pay process, payment methods, and establish effective supply agreements. 
  • Manage ongoing supplier relationships to ensure optimal performance.

2. Cost Management and Savings Targets: 

  • Develop and implement cost reduction plans to consistently improve the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Smiths Detection India. 
  • Achieve savings targets and deliver timely savings reporting and status updates.

3. Localization Initiatives:

  • Build plans and implement sourcing activities to localize the supply for target categories within the Smiths Detection India facilities spend portfolio. Supplier Relationship

4. Management: 

  • Conduct periodic business reviews with major suppliers to drive operational excellence in areas of price, quality, and delivery. 
  • Foster strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure alignment with business objectives.

5. Collaboration with P&T and Finance: 

  • Collaborate closely with the Product & Technology (P&T) teams to actualize the activities of the IPO, ensuring that locally sourced materials meet the necessary approvals and can be exported globally to seamlessly support our operations. 
  • Partner with local Finance to capture and measure the value derived from sourcing activities

Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree preferred in supply chain, business, engineering, or other relevant degree.
  • Minimum eight years with progressive Sourcing experience and at least five years team management experience.
  • A proven leader, able to inspire team members.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Able to influence at the top table both internally within Smiths Detection and externally with supplier partners.
  • Good communication skills with suppliers and in a matrix organization.
  • Proven negotiations skills that have resulted in substantial TCO reduction without compromise to quality, and delivery.
  • Experience in analyzing complex data, (preferably from SAP extracts).
  • Experience in drafting tender and contractual documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information upwards to both senior management as well as to subordinate staff members.
  • Previous experience working in a global matrix management structure.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • The ability and motivation to persistently pursue and achieve effective results which drive the business forward.
  • The ability to make effective, timely decisions in a complex, global market by sourcing and analyzing critical information.
  • The understanding and recognition of the organizations commercial environment and positioning themselves, their role and their actions in order to support the organizations commercial success
  • The ability to engage, challenge and work effectively with others.
  • The ability to build an effective network of relationships both internally and externally, understanding their customers’ needs
  • Willing and able to identify and support change and continuous improvement in own and wider business environment
