Job Description
Reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager here at Hemel Hempstead, you will contribute to the on-going development, deployment, and support of Data and Configuration Management Systems in-line with the companies’ development vision. To work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Service to handle Configuration Management throughout the full product life cycle.
Note: Applicants must be eligible to obtain SC level of clearance
You will assist the Senior CAD and PDM Administrator to develop, deploy and maintain the Configuration Management System (CMS) and to support the maintenance of the Product Data Management System (PDM). This will require the candidate to be able to support and assist the Senior CAD and PDM Administrator in:
- Providing admin support for the CAD and PDM systems, including user creation and access controls.
- Providing problem solving and guidance to CAD and PDM users.
- Incident and Request Management.
- Providing low level technical support (troubleshooting) on specific software (SolidWorks CAD, Manage, PDM etc).
- Support in the Maintenance of CAD, PDM and all other related pieces of software, ensuring that systems are available and suitably configured at all times.
- Assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of working Policies / Standards and Workflows.
- Support in System Upgrades, Downtime and Maintenance.
- Generation of Work Instructions / Training Material using available data.
- To keep abreast of relevant technological developments and assist in the introduction, benchmarking and validation of new software and hardware systems as required.
- Championing changes when they benefit the organisation.
- Supporting Licence Renewal, Purchasing, Hosting and Utilisation Monitoring activities.
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree / HNC (or equivalent). Accredited by a relevant professional body would be advantageous.
- Actively pursuing individual professional development.
- Competent user of 3D CAD design tool, and associated product data management (SolidWorks would be advantageous).
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft SQL would be advantageous.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in similar role.
- Experience training others in CAD skills and draughting to BS:8888 is preferred.
- Competent user of product data management tools (SolidWorks Manage would be advantageous).
- Awareness of business tools such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) advantageous.
- Excellent team worker, with the ability to work with minimal supervision where required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with confidence in dealing with a wide range of people, including suppliers, designers, and senior management.
- Excellent IT Skills, with knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Adaptability to learn new IT skills essential.
- Knowledge of Military Standards would be beneficial but not essential.
- Aware of the gated engineering design process, including, concept design, DFM, prototyping, test and evaluation, verification, and production.
- Self-motivated, driven, and eager to learn.
